Contemporary Street Artists

Street Art or Street Art (Buskers) is an artistic expression that has now entered common use with which we indicate those forms of art that manifest themselves, through visual or performative forms, in theatrical and musical performances , circus or in graffiti, murals and sculptures, made in public places such as squares and streets, therefore outside the traditional artistic spaces.

Performative forms of Street Art:

Buskers or Street Performers create performative shows designed to be performed on the street. Musicians, jugglers, acrobats, dancers, actors, clowns, and performers offer a cultural experience that fosters social interaction and growth, accompanying audiences of all ages and social backgrounds on a journey of performances and inspirations.

Visual Forms of Street Art:

Street artists, also known as street artists, are individuals who create artwork in urban contexts, often using public spaces such as walls, sidewalks, or architectural structures as their canvas. These artists differ from traditional forms of art because they work outside of conventional artistic institutions such as museums and galleries, bringing art directly to the people.

Street artists utilize a wide range of artistic techniques, including spray paint, stencils, stickers, posters, graffiti, mosaics, and temporary installations. These mediums allow them to express their creativity and convey visual messages in an immediate and accessible way to the public.

The activities of street artists can include:

• Murals: They create large-scale paintings on building walls, often using spray paint. These murals can depict figurative, abstract, or symbolic imagery and may express social, political, or cultural themes.

• Stencil art: They use stencils to create detailed and intricate images on various surfaces. Stencils allow them to easily reproduce the same images in different locations.

• Stickers and posters: They create artistic stickers or posters that are pasted on walls, street signs, or other urban objects. This form of street art is often smaller in scale and can be more easily removed or covered.

• Urban interventions: They create temporary visual interventions or artistic installations that can modify or transform elements of the urban environment. These interventions can include three-dimensional objects, sculptures, or interactive elements.

• Artistic performances: Some street artists engage in live performances in the streets, involving the audience and combining elements of music, theater, or dance with visual art.

Street artists often seek to interact with the public and the surrounding urban context, bringing art into communities and stimulating dialogue and reflection.

Their works can address social, political, environmental, or cultural themes and can serve as tools for critique, innovation, and the expression of identity.
